Rhea Boyd: Editor-in-Chief and Living & Arts Editor Rhea Boyd is a senior whose career with the Thomas Jefferson Journal began sophomore year. During school most of her focus is dedicated to course work and extracurricular activities, such as being a DECA Officer, Peace Panel Treasurer and Student Council Representative. With the bustle of school she still tries desperately to find time for her passions including concerts, animals, music, writing, reading, vegetarianism, friends and family. Lauren Abrams: News Editor Lauren Abrams is a Senior at Thomas Jefferson High School and will be entering her second year on the Journal staff. She is the Editor of the News section and also writes for the People section. In her spare time, Lauren likes to be with her friends and play bingo with her mom on the weekends. Jasmine Kabera: Community Editor Jasmine Kabera is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School. This is her second year on the newspaper staff and her eleventh year in the United States. Next year, she hopes to get into a University (preferably in the state of Colorado), even though she is still debating on what to major. Martha Alvarez: People Editor Martha Alvarez is a senior at TJ. She enjoys reading novels in Spanish, being sarcastic and making fun of Mr. Salazar. After high school she plans to go to CU and major in business and Chicano Studies, and if that plan doesn’t work she will buy a backpack and walk all the way to Mexico and back. Scott Bruskin: Sports Editor Scott Bruskin is a senior in high school. It is his third year on the Journal staff, his first as Sports Editor. Scott has played an array of sports for Thomas Jefferson including football, baseball, basketball, and tennis. Scott is an avid sports fan and loves the Denver Broncos. Rebecca Holt: Photo Editor Rebecca Holt is the photography editor for the TJ Journal this year. She also writes for the Community section of the TJ Journal. She is also the photography editor for the Aristocrat, TJ’s yearbook for the 2009-2010 school year. Rebecca participates in TJ Diving, is the Senior Class President for Student Council, the Co-President for the Peace Panel, and is in National Honor Society and D.E.C.A. Luke DeGregori: Copy Editor Luke DeGregori is a junior at TJ with a zest for writing, music, and fine cheeses. After his birth in North Carolina, Luke moved with his family to Colorado at the age of five and became a Nuggets fan soon after. After many uneventful years in middle school, Luke became vastly interested in journalism from his teacher Ms. Adair. Anna Romero: Copy Editor Anna Romero has been interested in theatre arts and drawing from a very young age. Recently, she brought singing, writing and speaking French into the mix and is currently juggling a full schedule of French, Newspaper and Monticello Choir along with acting after school and doodling during two AP classes. Feben Asfaw: Reporter Feben is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School. This is her first year on the Thomas Jefferson Journal staff, where she writes for Community and Living & Arts. She is from Ethiopia, and loves to knit anything from scarves to headbands (which is all she knows how to knit). She is in The Knitting Club. Anna Becker: Reporter Junior year has just crept up on Anna Becker and has driven her onto the staff of the TJ Journal. Like Superman, Becker has two identities: a writer by day and soccer player by night. Anna likes to stay involved in plenty of school activities, and be athletic outdoors. Christopher Carter: Reporter Chris Carter is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School. Chris was born July 17, 1992 in Denver Colorado. He likes to play basketball and is on the TJ varsity basketball team. Chris’s favorite school subject is his literature classes. “I like to express my feelings in my writing,” said Chris. Jenny Holman: Reporter Jenny Holman has always had a love for writing and is very thrilled to be on board with the TJ Journal. This is Jenny’s third year at Thomas Jefferson; she loves it here and couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. In her free time Jenny loves to read and hang out with friends. Michael Kutz: Reporter Michael Kutz is a Junior at TJ who contributed to last year’s Jeffersonian Magazine. This past summer, he hiked 70 miles with a 50lb backpack, stumbled around the Midwest seeking tombstones of ancestors, went to car shows, and chilled with his friends. Heather Larson: Reporter Writing has always been a passion for Junior Heather Larson. If the subject is interesting and has a broad spectrum, she can write very well and with no hesitation. Daniel Mardirosian: Reporter Daniel Mardirosian is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School. One of his hobbies, art, is something he excels at. Daniel is a true library lover because ever since he was at TJ, Daniel has won the Denver Public Library’s Teen Summer of Reading’s Bookmark and Poster Design Contest, and he also volunteers at the Denver Public Library’s Ross-University Hills branch. Mia Nogueira: Reporter Mia Nogueira is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School. It is her first year on the TJ Journal staff, and she is exited to share her love for journalism with the TJ Students. When not at school, Mia enjoys long Guitar Hero sessions, occasionally making hemp bracelets, and spending time with her virtual Tamagotchi pet. Zach Salas: Reporter Zach Salas is a junior who enjoys going off on long rants about…well anything really. As long as he’s laughing, Zach’s happy. He loves humor in any form, especially satire and dark humor. Born and raised in Denver, Zach has been a Rockies fan since he could speak, and has loved good books since he could read. Danté Velez: Reporter Dante is a senior at Thomas Jefferson and is experiencing his first year writing for the Thomas Jefferson Journal, participating as a journalist for both the sports section and the news section. The time he spends away from school is mostly taken up with Ultimate Frisbee, working out, and being president of his Jewish Youth Group. Keith Warren: Reporter Keith Charles José Warren was born in Alcala De Henares, Spain on December 29th 1991. There he learned the art of soccer and played nearly every day and night with his friends. Outside of school Keith loves to hang out with his girlfriend, play HALO and watch the Colorado Rockies. Rachel Wilson: Reporter Rachel Wilson is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School. This is her first year on the TJ Journal staff. She started her high school career at George Washington but transferred to TJ her sophomore year. She enjoys her job at Old Chicago and spends a lot of her free time going out with her friends. She also likes to spend time doing her physics homework and playing Frisbee in the park.
