The boys extended their winning streak to four games Tuesday night, defeating the Grand Junction Tigers by a score of 76-69.

Zach Jackson looks for an open Spartan in the 76-69 TJ victory over Grand Junction Tuesday night.

“It was nice to see everyone step up, and pick up the slack this game without Jamel able to play,” commented Junior Forward Seaborne Harris.

At the end of one quarter, the boys were up by two points, with the score at 20-18 in favor of TJ. The second quarter was the other way around for the Tigers, as they outscored the Spartans by two points, so teams went in tied at the half. However, the third quarter went to Grand Junction as their big man Geoff Baldwin seemed unstoppable with his four-foot hook shot. Everything the Spartans threw at him just did not seem to work in the third quarter.

But in the fourth quarter, the tide started to change, as Baldwin began to miss shots. The Spartans started to pull away late as their desire to attack the glass just became unstoppable.  The drive was led by Billy Sprague who scored a season high 25 points and Ray Riley who notched 18.

“I felt we all played a role in this game,” said Harris.

The Spartans will hope to ride this momentum all the way into Fridays match up with South. The game will be hosted at South and will start at 7:00 pm. So remember to go out there to support your Spartans.
