TJ Takes Cowboys for Ride

Girls’ swim past league opponent, West.
The Lady Spartan swimmers completed another dominating performance Thursday, when they took on the West Cowboys at TJ, and came out with a landslide victory. This victory brings the girls to 3-1 on the season in dual meets, with their only loss coming against George Washington.
The swimmers times’ are dropping with every new meet, and the 200 free relay is coming closer to their goal of qualifying for the state meet. Among the top performers against West was senior Catherine Piccone, who won the 500 freestyle and swam in two of the winning relays. Junior Hall Hupperts also had a great meet, placing first in the 200 individual medley, and swimming in all three of the winning relays for the Spartans.
The team has a couple of big meets in the weeks to come, swimming against the DPL favorite East Angels next Tuesday and at the Jefferson County Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The girls hope to keep dropping their times, and the 200 freestyle relay should be able to shave off a couple of crucial seconds to make the state qualifying time. Overall the team has had a great season so far, and if they keep up the hard work they can make a good showing at the City meet at the end of the season.
