Boys Soccer gets out-played by the Angels.

By Scott Bruskin

The boys' varsity soccer team put up a valiant effort but was unable to come out with the win, losing to the Angels of East High School by a score of 10-0 on Thursday, October 4. TJ went up against a tough East squad and were unable to get any offensive production. The Spartans defense also struggled, trying to stop the Angels attack. The defensive side of the field had a rough night, allowing 10 of East’s 22 shots into the back of the net.  Zach Grossnickle of East scored a hat trick against the Spartans while Zach Bolden chipped in with 5 assists, leading the Angels.

With this loss, TJ falls to a record of 1-9 and a conference record of 0-3. The Spartans are now in last place in the Denver Prep League and chances of making the playoffs look bleaker everyday, as the Spartans will be forced to climb out of a deep hole.

TJ takes the field next Tuesday, October 9 when they travel to West to take on the Cowboys at 4:15. West enters the contest with a record of 2-8, including a 1-3 record in league play. West is only 1 place ahead of TJ in the standings, so this game should be tightly played as neither team will be wanting to finish the year ranked last in the division.
